Parking with a Purpose

Parking with a Purpose is a partnership with the University of Alabama Transportation and Parking, the Student Government Association, and the Office of Student Conduct. This program offers students the opportunity to work off parking tickets by serving the Tuscaloosa community.

Two service hours must be completed AFTER the ticket has been issued and must be from a non-profit organization in Tuscaloosa. If you need assistance in locating a community service site, you may go to Bama.givepulse for a list of non-profit organizations. Only one ticket per UA student in an academic year can be rescinded through this program.


Terms & Conditions • Only available to current UA students. • Only one ticket per UA student in an academic year can be rescinded through this program. • Only failure to register and improper zone citations (issued by the University of Alabama Parking and Transportation Department) will be considered. • The community service hours must be completed following the date the ticket was issued. • No citation issued due to illegally parking in a handicap space will be considered. • No citation issued due to parking in Faculty/Staff space (Green Zone) will be considered. • No late charges or fees can be covered by “Parking with a Purpose” and must be paid in full. • This program ends after 500 tickets have been rescinded within the academic year.

How to apply:
  • Perform two hours of community service at a non-profit organization in the Tuscaloosa community.
  • Provide verification of completion of two community service hours. The hours must be on the non-profit’s letterhead and signed by the supervisor. (Verification can not be given from another UA student.)
  • Submit the information.
